how do you prevent anxiety from coming back?

I go through periods of time where I don't get anxiety but then anxiety will come back in with a vengeance and I don't have a clue as to how to stop the cycle. Is there even a way to stop the cycle? Well at least not so aggressively, I am used to anxiety daily, but I do go through periods of time where it magically goes away. And there's no rhyme no reason for it, it just happens. I try to journal and find patterns. For example, when it goes away then am I a lot more calm and stress-free? But that's not the case. It's really bizarre and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I guess it's the sporadic nature of my anxiety that gives me anxiety. Not knowing when it's going to come in.

Jules I know that feeling of wanting to be able to keep that anxiety-free feeling and stay in that space permanently. From what I know there are so many factors that can contribute to anxiety so it's hard to pinpoint at times. Also, if you have a stressful period the aftermath can hit a bit later so when the anxiety does hit then it's confusing. That's what's happened to many times. I'll have an anxiety-free period of time and even when I'm in the height of stress my anxiety may not be bad but then it'll hit hard in the aftermath. Also suppressing emotions can cause it. That's happened to me too.

I wish I knew the answer to this. Mine comes and goes as it pleases and as far as I'm concerned there hasn't been a real reason. I always think that stress is the trigger but sometimes I go through calm periods and it comes out of nowhere.

Same here, I wish I knew how to stop the cycle. I am guessing that the only way is to change your lifestyle because there's clearly something that's triggering it. For me it's all stress. When I'm not stress and have no stress in my life, which is rarely, it goes away completely. I don't feel anxiety at all. It's miraculous but then when I'm stressed it hits me hard.
