I have been using a meditation app which has helped me deal with anxiety on a daily basis

A friend of mine was trying to convince me to start meditating to help me deal with my anxiety which usually comes on during the day when I get stressed or tired. She told me that all I needed to do was to meditate 10 minutes a day. It can be in the morning, during the day or at night. It seems like 10 minutes is nothing but for months I just kept putting it off and making excuses like Im too busy....too tired...and everything else.

Finally I downloaded an app called Calm for my phone. They have some free meditation classes but you can also pay $10 a month for all of them. Most of then have a woman's voice which is very soothing. I have now been doing it for 2weeks, maybe 3 to 4 days per week. I wake up in the morning and grab my headphones and start a session. It is sometimes hard to concentrate but the say that it is ok. I am not sure how much it is helping because I am so new at it but I do think it could be part of my overall treatment. I will keep you all updated on this and any other things. I am really trying to find and try as many natural treatment things that I can try or get into a routine to help take off any anxiety that comes my way.

If you do not want to pay for the app what works for me sometimes is to put on some soothing sounds. Oceans work the best. I just work to do deep breathing exercises on my own. It is okay if there are sounds that interrupt you. Just try and slowly get you mind back to where you were before.

Either way, meditation is an important part of healing.

For me, following my breathing is what gets me to a quick meditative state. I can do this anywhere anytime. If I start to feel anxious, I step away, regardless of where I am and I start doing my deep breathing exercises. By following my breath, I focus only on that and it helps any anxious thoughts subside quickly. I do love guided meditations in the evening when I have time, but the deep breathing exercises are what works best for me personally.

i've never heard of the Calm app, I'm going to check it out because i am looking for good guided meditations not only for my day-to-day life but for when i travel.

never heard of it either but then again i never thought i could meditate bc of my racing mind. i want to give it a try. i can't do it on my own and i think guided is the only way that i'll be able to do it.

i haven't ever wanted to try meditation but i am so desperate for a way to calm my mind that i am willing to try just about anything at this point. and i like the idea of a guided meditation because my mind can't seem to slow down or stop.
