traveling has never been easy for me and now i am going on a long flight and will be away from home for 10 days. there's two parts to my anxiety about this: 1) being away from home which is my comfort zone and 2) the travel itself. planes have always made me very anxious, its that feeling about being stuck somewhere without an escape route. when i'm out and about in a public social setting i can leave at any point if i really want to but there's not that option on a plane. i want to overcome this anxiety and fear, i'm at a loss for what to do to help myself during this trip. then i'm going to be away from home, this is where i feel comfy and safe. anyone have any experience with this and tips that can help me? thanks.

I think the best thing to do is to see a psychiatrist and get some sort of medication here that can help you. Especially if you are going to be away from home which is your comfort zone. This is the best way I have found myself to get through any sort of trip away from home.

bali, travel can be tough, i go through it myself but i've found ways to help myself through it. i listen to guided meditation and relaxing music when i get on a fligtht, then i occupy my time by watching movies and reading books. i find that when my mind is occupied, i forget about feeling anxious. ad spaceman is right, having meds from your doctor can provide you with a safety blanket even if you won't need it. i carry anxiety meds with me everywhere even when i may not need them because just having them with me helps.

these are great tips and so helpful, thanks guys! i'm going to talk to my doctor to make sure that i had the right meds to get me thru my travels and i'm bringing my tablet with downloaded movies so that'll keep me nice and occupied.
