Rating Your Anxiety Helps Determine Best Treatment Options

If you suffer from an anxiety disorder, no matter how severe it is, you know the detrimental effects it can have on your mental state.

Rating your anxiety not only helps determine the best treatment options, but it can also give you a sense of power and control over your anxiety.

Being able to rate your anxiety can help you decide how to take the next step to relieve your anxiety.

Take Notes

Keep a journal of events, thoughts, and feelings, and give each one a rating of 1-10, depending on how anxious you are at the time. This can help in showing you what your anxiety triggers are, as well as giving a therapist a better understanding of your personal situation.

Also take note of your sleeping patterns: How well are you sleeping? Do you wake up a lot? Are you getting too much or too little sleep? Rest and sleep can greatly affect how we feel each day.

Rate Your Anxious Mood and Tension

An anxious mood is an emotional condition of being uncertain of the future. Feelings associated with your anxious mood are worry, insecurity, irritability, and dread.

Tension can involve the physical symptoms of anxiety, such as uncontrollable shaking and fatigue.

Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale

The Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale is a test you can use to rate your anxiety based on psychologist William W. K. Zung’s assessment. After responding to each question on the test, results will be given determining your level of anxiety.
