These Foods Can Help Reduce Your Anxiety

We are aware of which foods to avoid when struggling with generalized anxiety disorder, but knowing which items can actually help reduce your anxiety will improve your stressful state. Use the following foods as part of a healthy diet to squash stress before it starts.

Carbohydrates

Eating carbohydrates help boost your serotonin levels in the brain, a key element in the cause of anxiety. Serotonin can improve your mood, but be sure to eat complex carbohydrates like whole grains, rather than sugars.

Magnesium

To soothe the physical symptoms accompanied by anxiety, try non-processed beans and other foods rich in magnesium, which is found to relax muscles and nerves.

Tryptophan

Another product found in food that produces serotonin is tryptophan. Tryptophan is found in many foods including turkey; and some nuts, seeds, and dairy. This relaxing food product will help calm your anxious feelings.

Vitamin B1 – Thiamin

Vitamin B1, also known as Thiamin has been found to stabilize mood, which can be helpful when ingested over a long period of time. Include Thiamin-rich foods in your diet such as beef, rice, and nuts to maintain your happy place.

Protein

Meats, eggs, cheese, and beans are all great sources of protein. Protein helps your body produce dopamine, a key mood regulator.
